Saturday at the Comet in Northside

Lagniappe (pronounced Lan-yap) is making their second appearance Saturday night at The Comet. It's in Northside, the eclectic, artsy, neighborhood for foodies, musicians and artists. Here is the Comet's site Click here

If you've never heard or seen Lagniappe perform, they'll start out on stage, then stroll the crowds, and Jessie, she might start dancing. Chico, the violinist, may shout and stand on a chair~ or even a table, during a gypsy tune. The song clips on the slide show below, are from their CD "irrational exuberance." Available at gigs for $12.00. Just ask a band member. There are 49 minutes of music with a variety of their musical styles. Cajun, Dixieland, Jazz, a Waltz, even a Django Reinhardt tune --track 2. Then track 12, is a fast tempoed and rarely heard Gypsy/Russian tune "My Last Five Rubles."

Two original tunes, including track 8, "Tow Truck Two Step." It's about confronting a tow truck guy during a band gig at Arnold's. (Sung in French for legal reasons -- Just kidding!) Then track 13, is the final song on the cd "Hughes Street Penthouse Serenade." It's about band member, Chris's building near OTR. To view songs on the CD CLICK HERE FOR SONG LIST

For a sample listen from the CD, click on the sidebar on the Blue & Black Blog Talk Radio Box. Six tunes to check out...about 15 minutes worth. Above that, is a Band Bios link.
